Re: Royal Parks Consultation Removing Motor Vehicles from them
update
As mentioned last month, we have now has officially adopted the Movement Strategy and the 2020-21 Implementation Plan.
https://theroyalparks.org.uk/1EGE-6ZO1V-WEQKKX-45I3RS-1/c.aspx
This strategy sets a coherent framework to help shape and inform the policies we develop and decisions we take relating to how park visitors can access, experience, and move within the parks.
We are accelerating five trial projects across the parks, officially starting on Saturday, 15 August 2020.
The trial details are as follows:
Greenwich Park: A full-time closure of the Avenue to vehicle traffic.
Bushy Park: A full-time closure of part of Chestnut Avenue between Teddington and Hampton Court Gates to motor vehicles.
Hyde Park: A full-time closure of North Carriage Drive and an additional trial of an extended closure on South Carriage Drive (between Prince of Wales Gate and Queen Elizabeth Gate) on Saturdays, in addition to the current Sunday closures.
St James’s Park and The Green Park: Closing The Mall and Constitution Hill to traffic on Saturdays until dusk, in addition to the regular Sunday and Bank Holiday closures.
Richmond Park: On weekdays, restricting all through-traffic between Broomfield Hill Car Park and Robin Hood Car Park and a full-time closure of the vehicle link between Sheen Gate and Sheen Cross. Additionally, on weekends the trial will restrict all cut-through traffic between Roehampton, Sheen and Richmond Gates to create a quiet zone on the north side of the park.

Re: Royal Parks Consultation Removing Motor Vehicles from them ( update )
Looks like a good medium-term ambition.
As with all other changes the effects should be evaluated, preferably independently and in the open.

Another survey on the Royal Parks Movement Strategy
Consultation Open
Consultation for the individual Movement Strategy trial projects is now open until January 10th 2021.
The Royal Parks has embarked on an exciting and ambitious journey to develop a Movement Strategy which sets a coherent framework to help shape and inform the policies relating to how park visitors can access, experience and move within the parks

If traffic is going through the roundabout at sheen cross at busy times I am thinking that a cyclist going straight over to white lodge might find that even more dangerous without the hope of cars interacting at the cross roads and stopping each other there. If so they might take the gravel path to priory lane but then still have get across the traffic somehow to progress south. Last time I looked there were no bike/ped crossing lights at Roehampton Gate.
