What you said was
It has saved vast amounts of emissions from coal power plants to run the irrigation systems.

Yes, it was a silly question.

Silly, daft, the distinction is lost on me.

Some arguments are both daft and silly.

What they call "saft" in some areas of the Black Country.

People had the choice at the end of last year. They voted for Boris. Which proves the point rather. Nuff said.

PH wrote:From the article
The letter argues that the climate and ecological emergency can only be addressed by tackling the underlying “social and racial injustices and oppression that have laid the foundations of our modern world”.

No one in the west is going to vote for that, no one is even going to get the opportunity to, a manifesto that might look like even taking the first step towards it will be vilified by all those with vested interests, which in reality is nearly all of us.
The article also says
Earlier this year the EU unveiled its green new deal proposals, which it said aimed to transform the bloc from a high- to a low-carbon economy without reducing prosperity and while improving people’s quality of life.

It's a lie.
Our only measure of prosperity is growth and that only comes from consumption. Changing what we consume is a way of fudging the periphery. It doesn't touch the issue which is that we're consuming at a level that will destroy the planet.
I wish I had Greta Thunberg's hope and energy, I can't see how it'll change, it's not in the interests of those who might be able to bring that about , so there's no democratic means to make it happen. Which leaves revolution, guess who has all the guns.
I kid myself that I might do a few things to lessen my personal impact, but compared to what's required it's only purpose is to ease my guilt.

Greta Thunberg says touch your toes.

Thunberg is a troll that somehow escaped the internet and is now roaming around in the real world, trolling the world.

Any of these climate change muppets can be proven wrong in one word: Volcanoes.

Yes volcanoes - they have been spewing toxic gases into our atmosphere for (it's claimed) millions of years maybe a few billion, so what impact are humans going to have now in this 100 year window we have been living in, that's going to be worse?

We are all getting played with this stuff.

I found this radio 4 program rather worthwhile. It is nearly an hour long, but somehow kept my attention for the whole duration.

"The 17-year-old campaigner Greta Thunberg tells the story of her whirlwind year, which took her across the Atlantic twice as she went to speak to the UN General Assembly. . . . . etc. . . . "

Volcanos* we can do little about, however the missions by man we can.
Take a look at global warming since the beginning of the industrial revolution for a bit of an insight of where we as a species are going wrong.

*do you have figures on the impact of volcanos on climate change in relation to human effects?

CO2 and CH4 are not toxic. Those are the principal gases which are producing climate change.
