I actual 'know' a man who designs cycle lanes for the greater London area.
He works from home in Kingston upon Thames part time. If I mentioned how much he 'earns' for his 3 hours a day, he would be hung, drawn and quartered!
I personally am no fan of either marked cycle lanes or off road cycle paths, or indeed Sustrans. I am registered as a Sustrans Ranger but gave up long ago because of what I consider the poor design and operation of the lanes/roads.
Benefits of painted cycle lanes?
Re: Benefits of painted cycle lanes?
Cycling lanes and wider pavements do not hinder ambulances, as claimed by anti-cyclists.

I wondered which thread would attract that article! : - )
Interesting story.
And totally unsurprising which media were peddling the misinformation.

PS: I've seen it suggested that socialisation of residential roads has to get to six months for the benefits to be accepted.

Re: Benefits of painted cycle lanes?
I like the phrase "socialisation of residential roads". Could also be expressed as "humanisation".

One aspect to the report I found disappointing was more that clearly several papers/campaigners seemed to be making anti-cycling claims based on false evidence i.e. they just made stuff up to try and fuel anti-cycling.
It is useful that CUK has undertaken this research (credit to them - I'm usually just leaping on being critical of them), but disappointing that the Government's own bodies with responsibility for such development had not undertaken or not published such research (which maybe indicates the Government's own attitudes?).

Well, you seem to think that a salary of £60,000 is a huge amount.

I think your perspective on salary ranges might be a little narrow.
