Bradford Cycle Superhighway

Post by Steve X »

We had a superb ride the other weekend.
Train from Burnley to Bradford, then back along the Leeds Liverpool Canal, with world class scenery and cake and coffee at 5 locks and Cake and Coke from a Bottle (not that tap stuff) foulridge, with super service at a good price.
Northern trains and their staff were faultless.

The best bit though was the Cycle superhighway in Bradford, this was like cycling in the Netherlands, if we had more of this, more people would use bikes as a form of Transport as opposed to a leisure pursuit, though more would use for leisure as well. It was superb, I hope I have seen the future.

Cycle Super highways are great but they only work for one route what is more important is the feeder to these. Ie the suitabilty of the whole system.

"World class scenery"!?

Have you been watching the BBC's Country File programme?

Britain's landscape is mostly ruined or exploited in some kind of bad way.
I should coco.

Here are the five-rise locks, an example of ruin and exploitation in their day.
