On a similar vein, I saw a large bumblebee on the pavement looking rather sluggish so picked him up and put him on my lawn in the sun. Went to get a sugary solution to revive him. As I returned he flew off! He obviously just needed a bit of warmth

I got the bare arms out today on a short ride. And I saw another cyclist with bare lower legs. Primroses all over the hedgerows. That dreary winter must be over.

I spotted this group of about 30 Fallow(?) deer about 300m away across a field

whilst out riding today, a lovely sight.

I sat and had my coffee overlooking the Heinz baked bean factory at Wigan from the top of Dalton Beacon shortly

afterwards,from the sublime etc.

+1 for baked beans, does the factory emit odours?
I live near a muesli factory, one often smells honey or malt or chocolate, probably good for sales but one wonders how much material is lost in the wind

Out on the bike this afternoon I stuck mainly to the lanes and saw very little traffic. The cars I did meet were all going slow enough and giving plenty of room. I had a few 50/50 situations where someone had to give way and mostly it was the car driver who pulled over before I had time to think about it. One was at the location above, where the driver of a black 4x4 reversed a few yards to the road junction behind him to make enough room for me. That saved me having to squeeze past. So a bit later on when I saw a postie's van coming towards me I made sure I pulled over before she had a chance to. A bit of give and take makes everyone feel better.

I did about 20 miles and if any driver did anything wrong I didn't notice it. Happy days.

I do love little museums
The cycle museum in the Middle of Wales is not so little and very good
Local history museums are often interesting and the staff have time to talk

Visited several literature museums
Fortunately, as someone said, studying literature is a rather quiet and unexciting matter
Very good for keeping the brain going as one gets older and older, mind

You will be very keen on Hay on Wye then. Or if not, you should be. Lovely streets of old buildings occupied by book shops, cafes, antique shops and more book shops. I did know Hay very well of course, worked in the book trade (not in Hay) but I have not been there since c 2003
Your mission (should you choose to accept) is to cycle there and report how it has changed I understand it has changed since the crazy reign of King Richard
Did a lot of walking on the Black Mountains too (one foot in Wales and one in England), the Sugarloaf is one of my favourites, I bet it has not changed much since I was there 1994

The south side is very steep, best to ride up from Llanuwchllyn, down to Llyn Efyrnwy, back over the Hirnant Pass, a perfect U-shaped valley
