A positive thread
Re: A positive thread
The dynamo hub front wheel arrived today. Not long before I start generating my own electricity .
I might even get some lights to go with it .

Graham. The cycling gnome isn't standing up straight. We need to address the situation with a pair of Postcrete overshoes. The hole next to him is ready.
Bike's nice though.

I'm ahead of the game . . . gnome-style, cycling apparel is on the verge of becoming the MOST fashionable.
The blingest brands always follow my lead eventually, . . . . . though it might take fifty years to catch up.

Coffee and cider. It'll soon grow [emoji6]
Re: A positive thread
Some years ago on a weekend away I was wheeling my bike along a peaceful deserted Brighton seafront dreamily admiring the early-morning views, my thoughts were miles away. A loud knocking on an upstairs window of the Hotel Ramada opposite drew my attention to two waving, grinning, semi naked chambermaids who'd decided to give this dopey, helmeted, trouser-clipped middle-aged anorak-wearing git an early morning wake-up treat.

We had our Children in Need day at work yesterday and if I got enough sponsorship I promised to ride to work this morning in costume.
Raised £117,and had a lovely ride in with lots smiles and comments from passers by.

Yesterday afternoon I had a couple of hours spare so I got my Thorn tourer out and went for a ride on the autumnal lanes. It was breezy and raining slightly, but it felt good to be out. I included a couple of short, steep hills in the route just to see if the legs were up to it, which they were.
Towards the end of the ride I crested a climb and began a descent towards a bend, where the road was sheltered by tall beech trees. The breeze and the rain resulted in a constant flutter of golden leaves falling all around. A woman was raking them up and putting them into a wheelbarrow. As I slowed for the bend she looked up and said what a good front light I had. I stopped and asked if she was going to compost the leaves. She was. She asked about the bike, never having heard of Thorn. She said she had a Dawes Galaxy that she cycled to work on. It turned into a mini bike chat, in the rain. Like me she did not see a bit of light rain as a reason to stay indoors. I said bye and carried on with the rest of my ride. It's great when you have a meeting of minds with a stranger.
