Went to the Literary Society meeting again today, got talking about favourite authors, someone urged me to read W G Sebald, who is *already* one of my favourites, I have read most of his books
Makes a change from being recommended authors I cannae get on with :?

Another eco-mentalist triumph :
Eight miles over to Blackmoor Apple Farm to collect some new fruit trees.
A nice chat with one of the staff, who I have met before. He cycles everywhere too.
Then eight miles back, loaded with the precious plants.
Fellow road users appeared to be unusually cautious.

They feared your apple trees!

If you can find some sort of contentment in small things you are doing something right.

I managed to get out on the bike this afternoon in spite of a general dampness after the rain. The lanes were strewn with mud and leaves, with the wheels making a swish sound as I went through shallow streams crossing the road. But I had good nylon overshoes tucked under my trousers, so the feet were dry. And it was good to be out. The one slight moment of disharmony was when a few people shooting were firing high above the lane and I could hear the shot (is it still made of lead?) landing in the garden of a thatched cottage close to me, but not a danger really. I'd not want it in my garden though. It can't be good for the soil.

Walked to the food store, glanced at the cycles parked outside
One of them had a loose front qr, I tightened it

Went to get a trolley, found a 20c coin on the ground, the *cash fairy* must have put it there to reward me

Took my friend out for a fish and chips lunch yesterday - a blissful escape from his nagging wife who phoned us at least 3 times... Decided on a bottle of wine for the water bottle cage, which we promptly cycled back to mine and spent the afternoon playing guitar and drinking the lot of it!

Fine day out: 6

Brilliant. I have a friend who has been suffering with a cough for about 6 weeks.

Thanks. I sing in various music ensembles and am due to be singing the solo part at a concert this coming Saturday. It was looking increasingly like I'd need to step down but there is some hope. I will book a couple of lessons for later this week.

To ease the interminable interviews outside Parliament I've been counting the cyclists whizzing past. Very impressed by the numbers. Anyone here part of this commuter peloton?
