A positive thread
Re: A positive thread
32 degrees C in my workshop today. Unbearable, so as I have been doing 7 days a week for about 4 months now I took a few hours out. This evening I will make up for the inescapable daytime discomfort by sitting in the cool garden listening to the tawny owls and hopefully catch the hedgehog family on their daily visit.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

Re: A positive thread
A tenuous link with cycling - the person concerned cycles to the airfield!
So there we were with our 2-year old grandson yesterday, on the car park at a local airfield watching the planes take off and land, and taxi across right in front of us.
Much to the little ones excitement, one of the pilots waved as he taxied past into his parking place.
A few minutes later he approached us, introduced himself and asked if our young man might want to see the plane and perhaps sit in it.
Would he - yes he would - as would his (failed) trainee pilot grandad!
So nanny and grandson sat in the plane, while Steve explained how things worked and showed the little one how to move the stick to make the ailerons and elevators work. Magic!
Forgot to add - if you are reading this Steve, thanks once again, you made a little lads day - well 2 little lads!

Plus One
My first flight was in a little Cessna, a colleague invited me to the airfield after work, we went over the area where I lived and cycled, I took scores of photos
Flying is cool. Unfortunately
Not flown since 2008

Flying is cool because in warm weather there's a nice big fan in front of you!

The responses on this thread are so varied and just confirm that most things are better when cycling (I can't wait for the facetious answers of what is not better on a bike) should this not be a sub-forum?

It could be merged with "We love Wales" or "Porridge"

I rode to the RSPB site at Hesketh Bank on the Ribble Estuary and
had a most unusual avian sighting, a flying fish carrying another fish, it was a Swordfish
carrying a tin fish.

I discovered the secret West Lanc's Liquorice Allsorts farm the other day.
..and rarer still, a little lane I hadn't been on before with ........no potholes,
(I stopped to photograph the old oak tree).

Doctor bike at school today. We repaired 40 bikes!
Many bikes on the stands the first few days of school. And locked up to the fence, every sign post around the school, and a few trees, as well.

First, thanks to the OP for starting this interesting, enjoyable and sometimes uplifting thread - on which note it doesn't get much better than the BBC report today regarding the police working with youths on bikes in inner London. Congratulations are in order:
