I saw a barn owl! It was dark, though, and I didn't get a picture.

Hardly right for "A Positive Thread", but following on from the last two posts, on my ride yesterday I stopped on a very quiet lane to attend to an injured wren flapping about in the middle of the tarmac. My guess is that it had been hit by the windscreen of a car that had passed me a couple of minutes earlier. Two possibilities. Firstly that it was just stunned and might recover. Second, and much more likely, curtains. Either way it was better off in the long grass at the base of a hedge so that is where I left it.

But, back to the positive, when I drew the curtains at 6.30 this morning I could see a hedgehog scurrying about in a neighbour's garden, looking busy and healthy.

I can top that, saw a fox crossing the road in broad daylight again
In my lunchbreak today I saw a small dark serpent, it slithered away before I could identify it
I bet a lot more snakes perceive us and scarper without being seen

Wild wolves are quite widespread in Germany, not seen one yet :? Wild pigs too, never seen one but one often sees where they have rotavated the ground

Plus One for wild nocturnal beasts that do not bother us

I had the day's watering and weeding done in the vegetable garden before breakfast. Later a 20-minute tandem ride into town with Mrs. M-k to meet a friend for mid-morning coffee before the day began to really heat up. 8)

Stopped at the Co-op for groceries on the way home — Seniors' Day: 10% discount. :D

On the way home passed the local constabulary doing a roaring trade with a radar speed trap … in exactly the same location as yesterday. (Locals convinced that lightning never strikes twice? )

Plus One for signatures on these fora, people do like to show how clever they are with smart sayings (I have noted some of them to show how smart I am) in colour, in foreign languages, or list their bikes n+1 or describe their stupid phones :?

01. July I am sitting at home feeling miserable cos it is so hot out. Noted an open-air event for today (avoid), it was planned for 1.5 but cancelled because of liquid sunshine
Went cycling on 1.5, it was great, cool and damp, not many cyclists or motons about

It is great to be abnormal and dislike the heat, can't understand people who risk sunburn and spend lots on drinks and ice-cream and sit in the sun. The weather will get better soon, the days are getting shorter already

I really hate the hot weather but I am very lucky, I can stay home with my books
Might be cool enough to go cycling about 22oo, and still light
