I'm not sure what your last post had to do with Swansea.
Are you suggesting the forged notes are being made by the Jacks.

As an aside, I recently sold my complete record collection, lovingly cared for over 50 years.
I was selling it to a dealer from North Wales, who'd asked me to meet him halfway and do the deal.
I asked him how he would be paying and he told me that he usually dealt in cash, usually in used twenties.
Mrs. Copy was a bit concerned that I would be handing over my collection to some chap who I'd never met, only had his email address, meeting in a remote car park in deepest darkest Wales.

Every time I go into Wilko stores in town, they always scan any £20 note I hand over, checking for authenticity.
A couple of days before the arranged meeting, I finally plucked up the courage to ask if he could pay me in new plastic tenners.
He replied that he doubted it as his local bank had recently closed.

We drove to our rendezvous with some trepidation and were a bit alarmed to see that the guy (and I'm sorry for making assumptions and jumping to conclusions here) looked like some hillbilly out of the Deliverance movie.
Anyway, as I started loading the records into his car, he turned to me, held out a large wad of crisp new tenners and told me to get Mrs. Copy to count them and check all was well, while we loaded his boot.

Happily, I'm now halfway through spending all the cash and (touch wood) no fraud investigators have come after me yet, so it seems I was being a bit paranoid about the possibility of a dodgy deal.

It transpired that the chap had been walking his dog in the snowy foothills prior to our meeting, and apologised to us for his somewhat unruly and bedraggled appearance.

It was an example of German humour  :?

Where exactly did you meet him? Llandrindod would be my choice (used to live there)

I like stories with such texts.. 'a significant sum in used notes was quietly handed over..'

Just heard a real-life story how €2.3m was mislaid by a transport firm, €1m weighs 40kg
The driver of the money transporter was arrested and is now in the same prison as President Puigdemont (Neumuenster)

What are you spending it on? Is cob records still in business?

We'd originally arranged to meet in Meifod, but changed it to Welshpool, where 'a significant sum in used notes was quietly handed over..' *

We're off to Llandod in May for our annual Mayfest cycle meet with various friends.
Nearly moved there myself a few years ago.
Spent many short breaks in farmhouse B&B's in the Howey area.

*Actually I think they were all new tenners, but the following week I sold my expensive turntable, where....

A quick google suggests that Cob Records has moved from Bangor to Porthmadog....

Euphemism for 'closed Bangor branch' I think

That's a bit odd, as I thought they were always in Porthmadog; hence the name. :?

You are right, the shop in Porthmadog was the original and the one in Bangor was an off-shoot.

I stayed a Dolberthog (+1) a short walk south from 'The Metropolis' (Metropole)

I have too many books and want to downsize
Did you sell all your records? Are you afraid of regretting it?

That was about the only B&B we didn't stay at. Our favourite in the end was in Llanyre.

I sold most** of my records and have no regrets (at the moment).
The fact is (as mentioned elsewhere) that my hearing is so bad now that any music sounds really discordant and unrecognisable.
As vinyl is back in fashion, I thought it an opportune time to sell my collection.

As my eyes are still fairly good (especially with glasses  ) I have decided to concentrate on photography for the foreseeable  future.
As well as a new camera I have been researching some of the old masters, delving into the Magnum archives, and have recently bought about ten books by some of the great photographers of the era.

I visited the new photography gallery at the National Museum in Cardiff when it opened with David Hurn's "Swaps" exhibition, which I have to say I was mightily disappointed with. :(
But the fact that there is a photography gallery is a major step in the right direction and I look forward to new shows.

** I have kept back four quite rare records from the late 60's and have been trying to work out how to best sell them.
One specialist web-based site indicates that the last time one of the four sold privately, it went for almost £1700
I'm not that greedy that I'd expect that, but we'll see what develops.

Just discovered that Oliver Bulleid was a bit Welsh, he was born in NZ and lived in Llanfyllin before he teamed up with Sir Nigel
Bulleid designed the Q1, the ugliest and they most efficient steam loco, and he experimented with double-deckers

I love living in Wales because when I am climbing one of our many wonderful hills to take my mind off the climb I play the game count the 'Costa' coffee cups on the verge.
It works for me but I am a bear of little brain :D

Yes Costa really is the new MacDonalds as far as litter is concerned.
But then they are almost everywhere you turn now.

Our local hospital has one in there ***(which replaced the WRVS cafe  ) and not 50 metres away the local petrol station cum carwash is an outlet for them too.

*** Probably an appropriate location as I reckon Costa coffee tastes of disinfectant.
