Doubtless there are factions in Plaid, but many do not want full independence (who would pay for the embassies + battleships?) but rather more autonomy in Europe

What I mean is, while I don't agree with her on enough things to make me vote for her, I think she has a good heart and I quite like her.

I'll be driving over next week anyway, and would have with or without the tolls, to get to a place near Bristol not easily reached by public transport. I'll save a fiver compared to usual. But it will be interesting to see how traffic flow changes. Will it mean less going through Gloucester, for example.

Have to say that the removal of the tolls gives me mixed emotions. It's fair to say that they have been an economic constraint on South Wales, not helped by the state of road network - not least the M4 past Newport and west of Margam as well as the state of the A470 between North and South Wales, essentially making Wales two countries - the populated bit on the north coast and the populated South Wales Valleys. Anyway, house prices around Newport and Chepstow are now accelerating rapidly as Bristolians, fed up of ridiculous prices there move across onto the relatively cheap side of the bridge - great if you already live there or an early adopter but bad news for first time buyers who'll soon be priced out as is common place across much of England.

Then there's West Wales where I live. So far we haven't had the London-centric holiday home take over as has happened in Cornwall and Devon - but it's coming. A friend of mine has a small holding in Ceredigion and every single viewer has been from London and the South East. The funny thing is, that each of these cannot sell their London homes as no one wants to buy in London at the moment given the current economic uncertainty.

How perverse, people move from Bristol to Wales, drive hundreds of miles a week (in Bristol they might have done without a car!) and are pleased to be financially better off

I think travelling should be made much less attractive, but without tolls it will increase. Plenty of people live in Bristol and work in Wales, cannae swaps be arranged?

Jobs should be put where people can live

If I had the choice I would live AND work in the Valleys
