Tilbury - Gravesend Passenger Ferry - Normal service resumes 22/6

Post by gaz »

Service suspended until further notice due to damage at Gravesend Pontoon: http://www.kentonline.co.uk/gravesend/n ... rs-126806/

Article suggests a minimum 2 week closure. I'll post again if I hear more.

I remember when the CTC Handbook contained a list of bicycle-carrying UK internal ferries, including some much more obscure than the the Tilbury one. There does not seem to be any current equivalent either online or in print.

English ferries from my own knowledge:

Cornwall:
Penzance - St Mary's
Scilly Isles inter-island ferries
Helford Passage
Falmouth - St Mawes
Falmouth - Flushing
Falmouth - Mylor
Falmouth - Truro
St Mawes - St Anthony
Trelissick - Philleigh (King Harry Ferry)
Padstow - Rock
Fowey - Boddinnick
Torpoint - Plymouth
Cremyll - Plymouth

Devon:
(Plymouth ferries as above)
Bigbury - Bantham
Salcombe - East Portlemouth
Dartmouth ferries (2)
Starcross - Exmouth
(Lundy ferry, of limited use to cyclists)

Dorset:
Sandbanks ferry.

Hampshire:
Lymington - Yarmouth
Southampton - Hythe
Southampton - Cowes
East Cowes - West Cowes
Portsmouth - Ryde
Portsmouth - Fishbourne
Portsmouth - Gosport
Southsea - Ryde (hovercraft)
Hamble - Warsash
Hayling Island - Southsea

Sussex:
Bosham - Itchenor

Bristol:
Gas Street ferry

Surrey
Weybridge - Shepperton
Molesey - Hampton

London:
(Hampton as above)
Twickenham ferry
Woolwich ferry

Kent / Essex:
Tilbury - Gravesend

Norfolk:
Reedham ferry

Shropshire:
Hampton Lode ferry

Cumbria:
Windermere ferry
Ambleside - Bowness - Lakeside

Ferry Service resumes from Monday 12th June 2017 from West St Pier.

West St Pier is the usual stopping point of the very early morning services. It is about 200 yards west of Town Pier and is helpfully signed "Ferry Terminal".

You have to ring him if you want to take a bike :-) Felixstowe Ferry will just take you though.
