Bloke on a long bike ride missing for months, seems to me, has no other explanation that is remotely likely.

This story is a grim reminder of just how lucky we were, some 10 years ago.

Our son was cycling that very same road, but in a northbound direction towards Rannoch Moor and Glencoe. He'd just passed Bridge of Orchy and somewhere near Loch Tulla he came off. He doesn't remember how. He was found unconscious by the roadside, his bike was trashed; and imagine our horror when we rang his mobile to be answered by a strange voice with a Scots accent, telling us he was an ambulance crew-member! Luckily it was only cuts and bruises, and after a couple of nights in hospital at Fort William, he was up and about again.

I fear that the fate of Mr Parsons is much less likely to have a happy outcome. :(
Suppose that this room is a lift. The support breaks and down we go with ever-increasing velocity.
Let us pass the time by performing physical experiments...

Was he ever found?

Although there's no recent update, it appears he's still recorded as missing by Police Scotland.

I think quite a lot of adults go missing and are never found

There was a body found recently in a well-used wood that had been there three years!Areas can be search and searched but things still missed.
Chances are the poor fella on the A82 is now part of the land. There is also the possibility that he is actually alive and has "disappeared" deliberately.Maybe we will never know.

Indeed a French woman disappeared from Wasdale YHA in the 80's (looking for her revealed another body in the water), but I was told by mountain rescue, her body was found close to a path and no one saw her for quite some time.

I understand the cops do not prioritise missing adults because most turn up again after a few days
For those who do not it is often too late, say if one has a heart attack or seizure while picnicking in the woods
Plenty of people drown and are never found I imagine

Seeing something about Scotland in a post earlier this week got me thinking, I see Tony remains missing and his poor family are still living with the mystery.

When on a walking holiday I was told a story by another walker; she had been on a (different) walking holiday somewhere fairly remote in South America. A woman went off to have a comfort break and simply didn't return; they looked for her, then the police and rescue services (who took some time to arrive) but nothing. And they were on some grassy plain, not mountain ledges where someone might fall off. It's one of those stories which makes your flesh creep, there seemed to be no reason for her disappearance, and even less for her not being found.
