Further maintenance may be required.

Post by gaz »

Came out of work today, unlocked and began wheeling the bike away only to discover the brakes were dragging. Rear wheel misaligned, quickly corrected, front wheel most definitely buckled. It wasn't like that when I parked up. I don't know if it has suffered accidental damage or deliberate vandalism.

Rode it home, brakes rubbing and shoved it up on the stand to see if I could true it. Didn't take long to get it back in reasonable shape, then as I began fine tuning - ping, spoke broken at the nipple.

I don't have any spares the right length, this is my only dynohub wheel. I've shoved an ordinary wheel in for now. I'll research some spoke calculators this evening and I'll visit the LBS tomorrow. Frustrating  .

No signs of tampering, other than the issues described. I now have some spare spokes, I'll get around to the repairs shortly.
