1918 was the end of the hostilities AFAIK, I don't know why 1919 would be used when no soldier certainly on the allied side was killed after Nov 11th. https://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/w ... 11th-1918/
I was in N.France last year and on the wall of the commonwealth memorial in Arras I saw this whilst searching for the name of a soldier that ultimately was the reason for the jersey I had made in my previous photo.

November 1918 was the armistice I.e. Ceasefire. The actual end of hostilities was only agreed in 1919.

3 of the 5 "A" team members from the WIMPS LEJOG June / July 2018 ..... Chris was never far behind ... actually mostly in front ......Thankfully ...
Lynda spent time in A&E helping team members .... and just helping with everything ....
This is Cally, Riley and Julie on the day that Jules and David's camper van spat it's starter motor, Jules fell out of Cally's van, the recovery wagon ripped down the lights at the campsite .....and at home in South Yorkshire their dog decided to eat a card of sleeping tablets .......Things got better....honestly

That is an awful sign, should be 2m not 2cm
Not sure about the road markings either
There was a similar experiment in Stormarn Germany
Entertainer, juvenile, curmudgeon, PoB, 30120
Cycling-of course, but it is far better on a Gillott

I don't interpret the sign as being about passing space, just warning drivers that they are "sharing" the road.

They seem fairly widespread (Netherlands) and in my experience work well there. Cars do seem to drive down the middle only pulling across when there is an oncoming vehicle and they do wait if there is a cyclist in the way.

Just the handlebars showing - is that OK?

Cycled to Meriden today; I'd always thought that WW1 was 1914-1918, but some Googling tells me that the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919, and that the official end was 1920. Every day's a school day
A few metres away stands a 500 year-old cross marking the Centre of England. OS calculated in 2002 that the geographical centre was actually 11 miles further north; cue lots of arguments

Could have done the same picture a couple of weeks ago but was too knackered to get the camera out! The centre of England regularly moves - it all depends on how many radial measurements you take, where you take them from, etc....you can, correctly, get it to be anywhere over quite a large area around here by tweaking the formula. One of the favourites used to be in Sutton Park, Birmingham, and I believe there were some quite vigorous exchanges between the good citizens of Sutton and Meriden over the subject.
