Surrey road closure

Due to a bridge repair on Young Street the road from Polesdon Road to Ranmore Common Road will be one way from the A24, Boxhill end. This is a very popular cycle route and will be closed from 1st August for 5 weeks so check before you use as detours are quite lengthy and the one way section will be really busy and is narrow. you're lucky, try as I might I cannot persuade Highways England to keep open a narrow existing path of bridge road on a local route adjoining towns despite the fact it's a 1.5 mile detour for pedestrians/cyclists. They say there is a 'footpath' but this is an uneven winding dirt track, unlit, not possible to get more than one person past at a time, overgrown and it still means a 1.2mile detour minimum!
Really annoys me when they can get away with this rubbish

After local protests the council will leave things as they are whilst the bridge is being repaired, so no change likely.
