Thanks Lance most interesting. There is one just a couple of hundred yards from my house. Most get out there for a look.

The arrow without the bar indicates MOD

Just after we got married, we had friends come to stay....

We got a felt tip marker and put arrows on the eggs, milk bottles, and managed to convince them that they were official MOD eggs and milk

Bagged a few today. As soon as Mrs D opestrong gets home I'll get them to suck them out of her phone and into a pooter.

What a coincidence, I went onto the https://www.bench-marks.org.uk/ to see what was in my area. Top of the list of recently visited were all in my area. A guy named Kim Fallows had been out yesterday spotting them all.
My job is done then, I can rest. :D

Funnily enough, the story that I related up thread about having to do transects down country lanes was just down the road from there: Grafton Regis. Go find the bench mark there!

Grafton Regis is very close by to me. Where's the Benchmark? The church would be my best guess? I've already bagged the flush bracket on the canal bridge there.

Hi
This might help someone...
National Library of Scotland OS maps. The OS 6" maps in the early 1900s seem to have most of the BMs marked. Four within 5 mins of me, I could only find one though

I see the Bench Mark database contains a Waypoint reference. This is something I am not familiar with in this context. Is it connected to Geocaching? Could someone explain its use.
