Cycle Security in Northampton

Post by mercalia »

I had a visit to Northampton today and noticed these strange unconventional "mangled" cycle lockup hoops

Looks like it keeps the bike upright while you lock it up, not a bad design on the evidence of the photo.

Looks rather easy to accidentally not actually lock your bike up - but not inherently stupid - assuming there is enough separation to allow for anything other than a solo racing bike without a rack...
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

Clearly didn't want to be known for having "Sheffield" stands, so came up with their own design. Should work just as well though.

No, they're just shortened "Austrian Doubles". You can only lock the other wheel to the frame, unlike on full-size ADs.
