Re: Attempting to murder a cyclist
An intriguing headline by the BBC:
A man has been charged with attempting to murder a cyclist who was hit by a car.
Once again that disconnect between the driver and the machine - unless of course the unfortunate cyclist was first hit by a car and then the accused tried to murder him?

It states there was a "crash" but then there's a list of other offences including being drunk and in possession of a pointed/bladed article.Did they collide,or rather the car hit the cyclist, then the driver get out and attack/attempt to stab the cyclist?
All a bit vague at the minute.

So does this make it a "targeted" attack. If so it could actually be premeditated?if that is the case would it not carry a higher sentence than attempted murder?

The maximum sentence for attempted murder is life imprisonment. Unlike murder, it's not a mandatory life sentence. The Sentencing Guidelines understandably consider premeditation to be an aggravating factor.
