A more acheivable target is to ride every day of the year, even if it's only a mile or two round the block. Currently on 61 consecutive days so far. Not quite sure how it'll work when on holiday in Barcelona but there is a hire place opposite the hotel.

Tried the 'every day' thing in the past - I found it quite a chore and sometimes you just need a complete break.

I managed 10k miles last year but my actual target is. 9300 miles (15000km) - if it reaches 10 again i'll be chuffed but i'll not be worrying about it.

Phew, can you believe its April already?

My target ride for the Spring is less than four weeks away and I've reached a sort of plateau of performance! So here is March:

16 ride days avg 89.1km (55.4mi) & 1012m (3320ft) of climbing.
Ytd it's 606m (1988ft) and 49.78km (30.9mi)
Totals 4479km (2783mi) and 54542m (178944ft)

So i'm ahead of the game still atm despite losing a couple of ride days to stupid wind and rain in the middle of the month. I did get in a handful of 130km+ rides and one of those had 2500+m of climbing, a bit of 'commuting' hitting the averages.

Maybe some warmer weather will encourage a bit more speed into the legs as we go through April but i'm not holding my breath!

Time to fess up people! :D

Spent 4 weeks in Morocco without my bike in February (other half pines for the sun and probably needs a rest from my cycling obsession  ) so mileage so far this year is a bit down at 1890 miles to the first of April. Still aiming for 10,000 miles for the year.

What happened to Spring? Have to say that my enthusiasm through April was down somewhat, only the impending trip to Germany keeping me on the straight and narrow!

So here's how it panned out;
Km ridden 1565
M climbed 13107
ytd km 6044
ytd m 67648

That's currently giving me just over 50km per day of the year so far with a bit over 550m of ascent on each of those.

The numbers are slewed a bit, the main German ride was 200km so there were a couple @ 180km in the weeks before and climbing was down as I was concentrating on distance rather than climbing. Whilst I didn't miss any planned rides, I only took the bikes out 12 times in the month which made the average ride 130km with just shy of 1100m of climbing (the three days riding in Germany contributed @ 380km but only 570m!)

For now then i'm on target, well a bit ahead but who knows what this daft year is going to bring us - snow in June maybe? Any riding I have 'banked' might well be needed to bolster the figures!

Mileage is starting to creep up a bit with just under a thousand miles for April giving a total of 2876 by the 1st of May. Being happily retired I generally ride between 35 and 50 miles 6 days a week with an occasional longer ride on the mainland every now and then.

June is here and so far things here in GOC are looking good. May was unexceptional, the one planned 'missed' day compensated by another unplanned 200km plus! 12 riding days with no events.

The May numbers
1508km av ride 126km
16717m av ride 1393m
climb ratio 11.09m/km

Year to date
7552km av ride 101.5km
84366m av ride 1142m
climb ratio 11.17m/km

Average ride ytd (151days) 50.4km + 567m

Guess it will get harder as we move into summer and other distractions come along! :D

Bit quiet last month - I guess everyone was out riding

Somehow my June numbers were quite reasonable, 1508km with 15141m of ascent over 13 ride days - that's an average of 116km/day with 1165m of climbing. That despite a weekend at York Rally in the flatlands and a couple of days weather curtailed.

That means that i'm totally mashing the target so far this year! over the first 181 days of 2019 I've covered 9060km (5629 miles) and 99507m uphill, the average ride day is 103km with 1131m climbed. Which all means that i'm on target to do a daily 50.3km for the year - that's @ 30 miles for the terminally imperial!

Happy trails

I never did like maths so unlike foxyrider I have no detailed stats but mileage total at the end of June is 4880 miles. As I was away without my bike for the whole of February this is really only 5 months mileage so I am well on course for 10,000 miles for the year (touch wood! :P )

It's August - the summer is flashing by! We've certainly had some interesting weather but its not affected my riding, I've avoided most of the wet (well I got caught a couple of times in cloud bursts) and enjoyed the sun - well that day was a bit of a chore but I still got in 120km! So here are July's numbers:

1524km av ride 117km
17448m av ride 1342m
climb ratio 11.45m/km

Year to date
10584km av ride 101.5km
118634m av ride 1163m
climb ratio 11.06m/km

Average ride ytd (212days) 49.6km + 549m

What does all that mean? Well despite higher mileage and climb figures, the year averages have fallen back a little as I only ride 3 days from 7. Overall though i'm ahead of the game, my upcoming holiday tour will balance the day averages out a little.

Hope everyone is having FUN, enjoy the rest of August :D

ytd figures corrected! 5/8

4348 tandem miles up until the end of July, so marginally up on schedule. Looking at previous years records it's a big ask to maintain this until the year end as winter and Christmas approach. That's done it mentioning the C word.
Of course one could say that's only 10 miles each :D but I reckon Mrs rjb is more of a passenger but don't tell her.
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway X2, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840 :D
