If you go down to the woods today...
http://www.mineheadmotorclub.website
A pleasant couple of hours walking can be had from Dunster to Minehead. A lot of it is mountain bike-able too.
There are wanrning notices already up for this “event” - “motor rallying is dangerous”, I can’t remmber the exact wording, but the implication was “enter at your own risk” - inflicted on you by us. Or better still, stay away.
We had this last year, although we only actually met their scout/patrol card driving slowly around the tracks.
I don’t get it.
Forestry Commission, other public authorities involved in allowing this, the clue is in the title - forestry. Your job is conservation, stewardship, management of this beautiful place for the benefit of all. If you are allowing this, then you have lost your way and your sense of purpose. What are you thinking??

Re: SOMERSET SEEKER TARGA MOTOR RALLY 13TH APRIL 2019
It'$ the €conomy again
Some years ago YHA Kielder offered offroad driving fun
Many including I wrote letters of protest
That Madness was cancelled
I fear the courses may still be held near the hostel without official cooperation
..
Mind, one of the events is at "Slowley Farm"
Do we think motor "sport" should be banned? Maybe it could as a start no longer be called "sport"
In Wales motor 'sport' in the woods (Brechfa too?) is popular, Minus One

Perhaps my “sab” posters to go alongside their “warming notices” will say
No 44 T Rex
No 12 brontasaurus
No 58 diplodocus
Etc
Do you think the car club guys would appreciate a bit of light humour?

Re: SOMERSET SEEKER TARGA RALLY 13TH APRIL 2019
I've always been in favour of occasionally allowing those with different interests to have their day if it doesn't cause long term damage. That includes noisy festivals, closing roads and, dare I say it, cycling events.
