Found - Twenty Quid

Off on a ride this morning, not feeling too chipper. Got back after only13miles rather tired and now with a bit of a sore throat.

Just up the hill into "England", going at maybe 6mph, I happened to notice a £20 note all soaking wet and mucky in the ditch. Obviously been there a day or two and could easily have been swept downhill from somewhere else further up as we've had loadsa rain over the last few days. I stopped and picked it up.

I put it gently into a pocket and it's now dried out properly here back at home. I may not be feeling too chipper, but £20 has cheered me up somewhat.

Has anyone else found something on a ride that cheered them up?

I stupidly dropped and lost my wallet while cycling just after Xmas.
Couple of cards, driving licence, bit of cash etc.
Two weeks later it came intact in a packet in the post from far afield. Anonymous sender just place of finding.
That cheered me up, for weeks!

Found someone else's pannier once, again woth wallet and cards. Handed it in to the police station (those were the days when they still did that!) and a couple weeks later had lovely thankyou card.
That cheered me up too.

I'm saving up for one. £20 today, so I'm going to keep my eye out for more. This will entail riding slowly and staring into gutters and the side of the road.

Found an envelope in Ikea car-park, containing around £200 in cash. Didn't want to hand it in (thought it might get "lost"), so just let Ikea know where the owner could claim it from.

Sadly, the owner got in touch and we returned it, but got a nice card and a bottle of bubbly for our troubles

Hurray for plastic notes. Havent found one yet but will keep a look out. Is the £20 a plastic one now? I usually use plastic for everything and only carry a £5 note for emergencies. Havent seen a twenty apart from the Raleigh for years.
That note you found should buy some medicine down the Rising sun.

I also found a £20 note in a hedge around xmas after go for a leak . It was at the entrance to a rural small industrial estate

I once found 2 very wet and muddy £20 notes just lying on the verge.

I used to have a garage that was set back from the road and hmm the front forecourt used to see action if you know what I mean. Once I found 3x£20 on the ground a bit sodden clearly a too eager punter. made me cheerful does that make me a pimp?

if you go riding along Oxford st it is worth keeping an eye on the road as often people drop small change like £1 coins after paying their taxi.

Along time ago on the Lowestoft esplanade I saw a £5 on the ground, I hesitated to pick it up so walked on thought better of it went back and some other <expletive deleted> had taken it

The one time I found a twenty I must admit I just dropped it into a charity box.

Wasn't mine, didn't need it and tbh the feel good factor was well worth £20.
