Not me, not even close. What an achievement, 82 years old and disappointed that they only did 8,000 last year!

That's nearly 15,000miles a year for 67 years!

I never kept accurate records until as late as 2004, but from what I've sort of worked out, I've done in the region of 400,000miles since early 1980 when I first started cycle-commuting. I'll never get to 1,000,000miles and TBH I wouldn't want to ride 15,000miles a year. I have other things to do than ride a bike.

Mr Mantle, a lifetime member of Surrey's Farnham Road Club and also a member of West Surrey CTC and Cycling UK, is set to be greeted by friends and presented with an award from Cycling UK as he crosses the finishing tape later this week.

From the linked article

Wrong again*, Mick F has more posts on these cycling fora than anyone else, if he goes we all go *
Feeling smug, just assembled my fixie bike, going for a test ride in a minute
Saturday going to a model railway exhibition..

Besides, Mick F is in sight of a million kilometres ( 1000 000 000 metres)

There is of course the 300,000 Mile Cycling Club, Chris Davis formerly of Havant is top of the board but sadly is now unable to cycle. He lives in a home.

Yeah, pffft, that’s nothing. I’ve done 20 gazillion miles. All of them ‘meticulously’ recorded. What do you mean, there’s no accurate independent means of verifying my claim? Oh yeah, that’s right, it means approximately nothing, to claim having done ( insert number of miles) should there be no independent verification. A non story right there. I’m sure he has ridden a lot, but trying to quantify it, based on records compiled by himself, is a bit daft at best

If I had known there was a good reason to record my miles (or even that people did such things!), I'm sure I'd know how far I had gone by bike in my lifetime

It's amazing to me that folks can do that, let alone record it.

Really? There is independent verification of club runs, commuting, and many other rides.

Daft? I wish I were so daft.

Years ago my local evening time trial course went to a t-junction then left turn to a roundabout, all the way around and back the way you came from. I used to ride faster than another local rider. He said "I bet you get to the t-junction and turn right" there was no marshalling and this would knock off some time. I assured him that I didn't.
Later that season someone rode out and watched the turn. Everyone turned left and went around the roundabout, except one rider. The person who had accused me.
