Ben Gummer MP vowed to cycle every road in Ipswich When he was elected. Not sure he did it though.

I thought of doing this, walking every road, but my town is too big, it would take years

Taxipersons in London have to do The Knowledge, they must know every street, I think they use mopeds

I'm in the process of cycling every road in Cornwall.
Been keeping records and an ongoing map for years.
I've been everywhere in Cornwall within less than a mile of anywhere.
Whether I can remember it all is another question of course, but I have GPX records to prove it.

Done every road bridge over the River Tamar. 26 of them.
Done very bridge over the A30 Exeter to Land's End. 79 of them.
Going to every Parish Church in Cornwall. 226 of them, and only 25 yet to do.

Latest idea is to visit and go over all the railways past and present in Cornwall. Done some so far, but it's going to be another long task ........... and meanwhile I'm doing more roads.

I've cycled nearly all within a radius of 10 miles or so, and there are an awful lot of them, but not every residential cul de sac. Also I've not cycled some 'horrendous' roads, but chosen less hazardous alternatives.

no but I found a very nice alley way short cut to Streatham High Street that is a bit rural ( well maybe 50 yds of foliage and over hanging trees ) that gives me a smile

I must be close. I'm a Scout leader, and I've delivered various missives to Scouts all over the place. But it's only a medium-sized town.

Of course, latterly, the wonders of email have meant that I haven't delivered paper letters nearly so much.

The question should why would you want to cycle every road in your town or even county! christ some people must be bored/too much time on their hands, why not invest the time to go further afield and explore interesting places/meet new people instead of simply riding a road that has no meaning to it other than that it exists near to where you live?

When I was working, I got my cycling done by cycling to work and back.

After retirement, I continued cycling but eventually got bored of doing the same circuits so I looked for pastures new. Did LEJOG and Back, then a Grand Tour, then JOGLE on the Raleigh Chopper. I don't want to do it again, so my "new pastures" became a separate hobby but combined with cycling.
River bridges, A30 bridges, parish churches, and now railway lines.

I do parish churches but I don't keep a record specifically. I do keep a journal so most feature within the journal with a little information about them.

That's about the only reason I can think of that doesn't suggest some sort of unhealthy obsessiveness.

As I like to do woodworking, I have decided to visit every tree in Brechfa Forest. There are lots; and new ones keep growing. Mind, they also chop down old ones.

This will be Very Interesting, obviously. Oh yes it will! It has the advantage that, taking so long to complete, I will have to live to 1897 years old. .... But hang on! Is that an advantage? I'll tell you in 3916. Bet you can hardly wait!

Anyroadup, I will take a photo of every tree visited and post them here. (No I won't).

Cugel, trying obsessive-compulsive mode (and rejecting it).
