Quite a lot in NI it seems!
Although you’d have thought(expected!!??) that as he was banned for life the next step would be jail time for flouting it?
It appears he has fallen on very lenient magistrates.

The reported case was in a Crown Court.

Either that will act as a deterrent or he'll be behind bars before long, I suspect the latter. He should already be there IMO, it's an appalling record.

Not lenient at all, that's the standard and has been for a long time, they are an utter disgrace, CPS isn't much better, anything for an easy life it seems to come across as And the end result is a worsening environment because of the failures to actually uphold the law and apply commensurate sentences within the scope of the law to protect society.

but he wont as he will play the age & health card? Its a shame that one of his accidents didnt rub him out

I can see why the prison service will be reluctant to take in new inmates at present, especially 73 year old ones.
Perhaps an electronic tag combined with an order not to use any form of transport moving at over 15mph anywhere except on a bus along specified bus routes, and if the tag detected him moving at over 15mph anywhere else he became liable to have his sentence activiated?

Re: How many times can you commit the same offence
I wonder how many times he's driven and hasn't been caught.

I suspect daily but that is just my guess. Oh except for the 119 times he has been caught, it all just beggars belief but with another 60 odd other convictions in his history he clearly is well known to the criminal justice system. Wonder if he has ever been imprisoned?
Re: How many times can you commit the same offence
Only once, any subsequent offences are new, and therefore not the same.
You can break the same law multiple times
</pedantry>
When in a motor vehicle an awful lot, even though identification is usually trivial.
When on foot, quite a bit, because identification is relatively hard.

A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
