At the speed she went through our area, it'll take her years!

Yep, pricey gear but I suspect there's good reason for that - she'll probably have to contend with at least two Russian winters outdoors!

How long do you reckon it's going to take her?

Why? Or is it a case of 'it's what she does', as it were?

It was all to meet Mick F! Perhaps she likes the countryside, likes exploring, likes having a target, likes meeting people.

Hmmm - might it be 'to get as far as humanly possible away from Mick F', perhaps?

Maybe because she spends too much time talking to people along the way! May not be the case if she can't speak Russian.

The thing is, she got to JOG at Christmas.
What did she do then?

One of the questions I asked her, was what/where she was going after JOG. Boring place, and all you can do is turn round and head home.

No answer other than she had no idea.

I rode up to JOG and then caught the ferry to the Orkney Islands, you'd have loved it Mick F!
Then 2 years later I did LE-JOG-LE.

Plus 1 for heading up to Orkney.
When I did my Scottish end 2 end I came down from Muckle Flugger on Unst through Orkney to the mainland.
Lovely islands. Folk usually have time constraints but it's a shame more don't continue their journey north from JOG.
IMO.
2017 Ethiopia.5 weeks.
2018 Marrakech 2 weeks.
2023 Thailand 8 weeks.
Always on a Thorn Raven/Rohloff hub.

I thought the ferry was going to capsize, loads of people on board then when we got to Orkney they all got on a coach and left me! Amazing ride over the Churchill barriers and past Scarpa Flow, the Italian chapel was amazing.
Mick F said there's nowt to do once you get to JOG!

I made a pilgrimage to visit Login's Well in Stromness.

It's a pity you cannot fill your water bottle there.
It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

When I first did an End2End it was 1994 and was on a ship and due leave. We called in at Clyde Submarine Base, and I rode away to spend the night with friends in Helensburgh. I was driven to Glasgow Queen St station with all my stuff, and I trained it to Wick, where I rode to Canisbay SYHA for the night.

Whist at Canisbay, I met three chaps heading to LE. One was a from the Faeroes, and the other two were from Shetland. Related, I think.
Any road up, they'd started at the northermost bit of Shetland, rode through Orkney, and then were riding to LE with a plan to get over to Scilly.

Met them again at Helmsdale SYHA and again at Inverness SYHA ............ never heard or saw them after that, but I presume they completed their journey!

I did LE-JOG-LE in 2006, and JOGLE in 2010 basically the same route as in 1994.

I'd have been gutted if I'd have travelled all that way and not got on the ferry!
