Seems to be the same date as this year's Church Ride+Stride:

And I think the churches ride is on the second Saturday of September each year and is often in local groups rides calendar. Very strange timing by CUK.

Arguably perfect timing by Cycling UK.

Pick a day when lots of people are already expected to be riding.

Ask them to register the ride they are planning to do anyway as their participation in the World's Biggest Bike Ride.

It's a 'both and' opportunity to take part rather than an 'either or'.
2020 : To redundancy ... and beyond!

: - )

When I first saw this I wrote to ask if they're already coordinating the two events.

It's interesting that 12th is these two bike rides, whereas the following Sunday 20th is car-free day, being supported by Norwich amongst others.

Just had a reply from Cycling UK.

They didn't know that the Church Ride+Stride was the same day.

"With regards to them being coordinated, that would depend on who the local organisers of the Ride and Stride events are. We would absolutely be compatible with any other event, our aim to get as many people to ride on the 12 September to highlight how great, and important, cycling can be. However people chose to participate on that day is up to them, so it is certainly possible to be a part of both events! It would be fantastic if those taking part in the Ride+Stride events were also willing to log their ride on that day as part of the World’s Biggest Bike Ride."

PS: i offer to service the bike of anyone in our village who plans to join the Ride+Stride.
