Done...

On a positive note there was at least eight bikes allowed on the 22:10 from Birmingham New Street to Bristol Cross Country service last night. Perhaps they are starting to realise that people travelling with bikes are more likely to pay a full fare (well a saver at least...)

I went down to the West Country with my bike a couple of years ago and because I used several different train companies even though it was one return route, I had about 16 tickets - two for me and the rest for the bike! Crazy.

Don't let them win but keep up the struggle and wear them all down by our persistence.

The second seems to have a great deal more replies-- and is much more specific.

Done !

My husband and 2 children are cycle touring in the Hebrides as we speak and got there by train (and ferry!). What a hassle that was to book - they ended up with over 50 (!) separate tickets, and may yet get stranded in Birmingham as London Midland do not take cycle reservations - carriage of cycle is in the discretion of the senior conductor.

Provision also varies hugely - Scotrail and Virgin - 6 bike spaces per train. Arriva - only 2.
