Not sure if he really was at fault, but it beggars belief.

Referring to the original post, that’s a pretty horrid thing to happen but I fear its not so much to do with car Drivers v's Cyclists but more to do with the general type of self centered angry morons that seem to be increasing in numbers. I suspect his sort would do a similar act with other car driver or pedestrians or anybody that got in the way.

Perhaps a test could be developed to stop these sort from breeding in the first place

Not a test solution but howabout this:
Before entering vehicle, securely strap your firstborn child across the bonnet. In the absence of child, any other beloved relative will suffice.
On entering vehicle, fit/adjust the wheel mounted chest spike in place.
On entering driver identity into keypad, study downloads of most recent fatality reports from your geographical area. Engine will start upon entering correct answers to multi-choice questions on reports.

On second thoughts, dispense with child secured to bonnet, that would be too cruel.

I've always wondered if there would be less fatalities if the roads were painted with a red outline of a body where an accident occurred. It would be a reminder to people to take more care.

Sorry i would have to disagree it would just be something else to distract drivers, like the stupid people who plaster "XXX is 40 " signs on bridges etc .if it was up to me they should get a call from the plod saying do you know who put that sign up as its defacing property and a distraction to drivers .

try riding in royal tunbridge wells. i somehow found my self living here. the rich folk are strange. porsche must have a section in the owners manual "do what ever you want while driving. you are driving a rather smart car and you do look amazing in it."

one old bat with the top down in a slow moving line up turned, eye balled me just off left side(cos the van in front blocked my path) stuck her nose up and turned directly into me. sunk my boot into her car. proceeded as follows

her, "did you just hit my 911?"
me, "no i kicked it"
her, "how dear you damage my husbands car while i was turning"
me, "sorry didnt see you there... funny does your husband know your going to see mr williamson at such an odd hour???"

i seen the name 'Mr Wiliamson' posted on the gate post. her face dropped like a ton of bricks.

i slap smach hit kick yell at motorists. hey if i were a car you would owe me a new bumper and fender.

a hammer theres an idea.

i agree with mattydeez ripping the traffic up is enjoyable.

i was riding through the USA in the middle of denver city i smached the back of a car that cut me and pushed me into the path of and 18 wheeler(luckily the truck hadn't started moving yet) driver slamed on the brakes, got out and started cracking on. unbeknown to all of us a undercover cop was behind us he walked up asked our names. told the driver what a stupid idiot he was hit the opposite side of the car and said "there it matches now"

problem solved. i rode off wide eyed and was convinced the cop was cyclist too!!!

1/ Don't give up! You'd miss out on one of the most agreeable and civilising activities open to you.

2/ Don't stop expressing your dissatisfaction at others' stupid actions - so long as you give yourself an equally hard time when you could have done something better - somebody has to.

I'm sure the weather in the Trossochs will be lovely tomorrow.

what do you think of lorry drivers? i think they are a law to themselfs. they just plead ignorant "I never seen em" and they get away with it. take for example that lorry which pushed a car down a motorway, he got away with it.

Not all lorry drivers are bad, some of them give me plenty of space, usually more than cars. I live right above national cycle route 1, this section is a busy dual carriagway carrying plenty of lorries to the docks.

The driver of this oversize load would hopefully behave well around cyclists:

Thats one of the benefits of carrying your D lock close to hand, isn't it?

A couple of years ago somebody posted, on an American cycle forum, that he was so tee,d off with being close shaved into the gutter by passing cars that he set up a pressurised bottle of paint stripper with a pipe feeding a nozzle level with his front hub aimed at the cars. Whenever anyone pushed him towards the kerb he would give them a blast. Obviously you cant condone this, not least because if caught they would throw the book at him, but this is where frustration and anger can lead you. I think a camera is possibly the way to go.

what about those flame throwers they made for cars in jo-berg in south africa. to stop the snobby rich people from getting mugged at traffic lights. maybe a smaller version.

i'd prefer steel capped cycle shoes so i can leave a mark

there was a case in canada were an elderly woman was knocked down by a car. the female driver was on the phone talking to the police about two crashes she was involved in in the last week. she didnt notice killing the cyclist and her reply in court was the cyclist should have been more careful.

i would have donated the bullet to the judge to get ridd of her.

I knew i could not have been the first with this plan! My idea, however, was to spray from the handlebar tube end. The front hub does seem a better position, having thought about it. Never got around to doing it of course. Usually good enough to catch 'em at the lights and stare at 'em.
