<selfish mode on>

As long as that 'orrible white stuff keeps away from the Eastern side of the country for another 24 hours I don't care what it does. This time tomorrow I'll be stepping off the bus in Hemsworth :D

It doesn't have the same ring as "Twenty four hours from Tulsa" :roll:

Gene P used to be a regular at batley Variety Club but I don't remember him weaving Yorkshire place names into his act. Probably best left to comedians like Ken Dodd.

(I presume there is only one Hemsworth :? )

That was Tulsa was it? :?

I always thought it was a Northamptonshire song...

Met him when I was little. 8) There was the Carlton Club on Whittington Moor, which hosted such as Bob Monkhouse (met him too) and believe it or not Jimi Hendrix and Englebert Humperdinck on the same bill! The majority (but not, I think, Jimi :cry: ) stayed at the Queens over the road, which was run by my mother's uncle Ernest. It's now the site of a Lidl supermarket.

Talking of the late Jimi Hendrix, that many years ago, Jimi played at the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirklevington_Country_Club near Yarm. This was located on the outskirts of Stockton on Tees and nothing of the club remains, only cottages.

Predicted snow has failed to materialise in the midlands
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.

Just been out on bike in woods locally (NE Hants and 270ft AMSL) and it was a mixture of sleet and then more fluffy snow falling. But it has now turned to rain. There is a very small sprinkling of snow lying on the ground but it should soon go. That's the good news; the bad is that I have to drive north to Warrington very, very shortly ... :cry:

Sorry - my fault - I put the snow tyres on yesterday, ready to go out and play in it.

Mine's been downstairs since the icy day at the start of last week

Letchworth we've had a couple of inches this morning, settled on the grass and paths (Albeit quite wet stuff) but roads slushy & easily traversed with normal 25mm tyres. 2.5C @ Midday

All this talk of Snow and Jimi Hendrix :shock: quite apt I thought :oops:

Anyway its been snowing here and whilst the higher ground (Rivington pike etc) is still white over it had all but cleared from the lower ground,though I believe they've had it bad further west on the Wirrel and Liverpool
