Met Police officer closely undertakes cyclist
...then tells him he's inconveniencing him (whilst they are both at the next set of red traffic lights, looks like the same Range rover up front from earlier too)

Not mine, just wonder what people think of the attitude.
Do Police drivers have any better training then the general public?

Rule 63
Cycle Lanes. These are marked by a white VAN (which may be broken) along the carriageway (see Rule 140). Keep within the lane when practicable, watch out for Anna Meares elbows.

How many offences can we count?
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

Yes they do. - although there are different levels.
However being human, individuals can still sometimes make mistakes.

1) No seat belt.
Percussive maintainance, if it don't fit, hit it with the hammer.

whose side would he be on if you were knocked off your bike by a car?.....and so bus lanes are also for undertaking police vehicles,i knew there must be another use for them

Re: Met Police officer closely undertakes cyclist
I watched this a couple of times today whilst at work but had no audio. My thoughts were that a close protection vehicle would need to keep in contact with the vehicle ahead and so take whatever maneuver was necessary to achieve this task.
I waited until I was home to listen to the audio so I could hear the driver sound his horn as he undertook. This would be the expected actions of a police driver trained at that level. He didn't sound his horn. I am now also convinced that he cut in deliberately close after the undertake in order to show his annoyance. His 'inconvenienced me' comment, reinforces that view.
I was fully prepared to go against the flow and speak up for the actions of this driver, I now think that that would be very wrong!
I also think that as much as I despise the arrogance and politics of Andrew Mitchell, it may well be that his annoyance, if not his language, may well have been justified if this is the attitude of Met. protection officers to cyclists.

I also meant to add, that in my experience of protection officers, they wouldn't normally engage in a conversation! They will run any vehicle off the road which appears as a threat. I can only assume therefore, that this officer wasn't doing anything important!
Re: Met Police officer closely undertakes cyclist
Oh, and they are also armed to the teeth. Maybe cycling up to the window is not the wisest thing to do!

I remember when only the Police in dictatorships acted like that.
It was the absence of such behaviour which made our country "the good guys".

They do an extremely important job! Protecting the rich and powerful. We shouldn't get in their way.

Oh great! Someone is flinging a tonne or two of metal around, they have a gun in their pocket, and they don't like being 'inconvenienced'. Just what we need.
Re: Met Police officer closely undertakes cyclist
Time for an IPCC complaint? Did the officer also refuse to give his badge number? Thought they couldn't do that?
