eileithyia did that a year or two ago, and it's phenomenal.
10,000mies in a year means cycling an average of 27miles per day.

The problem with hitting an average mileage, if you miss a day, you have to do double the mileage the next day just to keep up.
How the heck do you find the time?

I can - and do - cycle five times a week, and sadly, sometimes only three or four times a week. I get out at about 09:00 but like to get back home around lunch time. That gives me a max of three hours - 3hrs at 11mph (because of the hills) makes 33miles. Do that five times and I make 160miles as an absolute maximum - and often only half that, so I'm on course for (only) 4,000odd miles.

:D
10,000 miles in a year is a 16,000 km Audax 'Mileater' medal.

I did 10,000 km Mileater in Y2K commuting and riding a few Audax events.

Congrats to that man.

Thanks, tho its 'that woman' actually! :D
I have been keeping an Audax Mileater diary this year and it has spurred me on to increased mileage.

In order to go over the 10.000 mile mark I did 32 miles yesterday making a 2017 total of 10.001 miles. Anyone fancy joining me in June for a 75 mile ride on my 75th birthday?

Hi,
Havent counted the days for 2017 but my lowest mileage the day I fell on ice was 16-18 miles,
The next lowest was 30 one day IIRC the next lowest would be 36 miles which would be a normal training ride.
All my mileage is done at on or above 80% of max heart rate, so I don't need high mileage for getting and staying fit.
One ride every 3 day or 3 out of five days a week ignoring weekends.
I don't commute, and I remember the tiredness on friday :)

But many years ago few people had cars even in the sixties, my best friend had no fridge either.
I know I spent less time per mile working on bike, and showering after every ride :?

From 13 - 18 years I was on my bike probably every day, no money no transport, before I was cycling then 3miles to school and back walking all year round, paper round 7 days a week before school, that would of funded by chronky bike, Xmas day off only.

I did a similar thing yesterday. 62 miles in windy and showery Cornwall for a 2017 total of 10,002.

Ah yes, the good old Cycling Weekly mileage chart. I was an avid recorder in my youth but didn't bother for many years. When I was commuting I could and often did ride 7 days a week but there were always off days for holiday travel for example so never 365 days but certainly over 300.

With last year's purchase of a Garmin I can be much more accurate with the recording - just a couple of simple spreadsheets give a wealth of information - Strava and Garmin have their uses!

My rather poor 2017 saw just 112 ride days with an average of 52.3km and 618m of climbing.
Convention? what's that then?

Spare a thought for the wage slaves of this forum. I cycle every day I am home, and was away with work 220 days last year......so far in 2018 I have done 0 , but have notched up long days on this forum, on the beach..[emoji5]

I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my SM-G900F using hovercraft full of eels.

My annual mileage suffered a sharp drop when I retired - the weekly commute was 100 miles before weekend audax and club rides. Theoretically I now have more time but living at a more leisurely pace, not going out in bad weather and having other interests are the reasons. Not being capable of more than 50 miles now is another factor.
