Bikepacking Handlebar Bag for Surly Big Dummy

Post by Heltor Chasca »

Could anyone make a recommendation for me please?

So far I've looked at the new offering from Ortlieb and I've glanced over Alpkit's kit. This is for my Surly Big Dummy which essentially has a MTB set up in front hence deciding to post in this section.

Is @Bigdummysteve still out there?

Thanks in advance...b

I am a fan of Altura's range of kit,and they have a HB bag called the Dryline.
Good size, very durable and some nice little storage options.
It also has a good QR system for easy on/off.
Not keenly priced though at about £48/50,but you get what you pay for basically.

Thank you TB. I can find on the net, a fairly conventional bar bag. Is that what you mean?

I should have been clearer. Sorry. I'm after a 'Bikepacking' style bag. From what I can make out: a harness of sorts with a dry bag of about 8-13 litres. If I'm going to get double value from one, it would be great if it could ALSO fit on my tourer with drop bars.

*Possibly a vanity/fashion thing, but my old Ortlieb bar bag looks a bit daft on my Big Dummy. I'm a trendy 40ish year old don't you know? [emoji6]

Yes,a bar bag with 7 litres of space. It basically just clips on to the bar.Comes with a shoulder strap incidently.
Not sure if that would do you,too small perhaps ?
A framepack could be the answer for you though. If so,they do a pack called the Vortex.
I don't have one,but have saw one.Very nice 8)

Wildcat gear or revelate designs

I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my XT1562 using hovercraft full of eels.
