What full susser for offroad-trail parks ?

Postby jfagan » 20 Oct 2018, 8:25pm

I have a a total of £4000 to spend on a lovely new bouncy full sus. Im not sure whether to spend the full 4k on a higher end bike with no extras or a slightly lower spec'd bike with lots of goodies. I already have quite a fair bit of kit but its a few years old but i guess it could do with a freshen up. What does everyone think i should do?? Thanks

You could try the singletrack forum:

Maybe a few more details on what you currently ride and where. Are you sure you are looking at the right type of bike for your riding?

Also what goodies are you thinking of? If your equipment is old and knackered, ie helmet past its best, shoes old and worn, etc, then replacing them is a no brainer. If you don't do it know you will have to soon and may have no cash for it.

Without more info, I tend to be a bit suspicious of this post.

Theyre all fair points.
Where i ride - purely trail based. Its a perfect blend between fast single track then parts with some properly gnarly rooty rocky sections. I wont be looking at a purebred XC racer but nothing as big as a hard hitting enduro machine. A 130mm/140mm travel trail bike thats suited at nearly every bike park.

In terms of my gear, the oldest is upto 2 years old. My helmet has taken a few small bumps but with no visual damage/cracks/dents and is just under 2 years old. I also dont have any 'proper' mtb kit so ill need some of that.

Currently riding a Cannondale Fsi and looking to get the new Cannondale habit or trek full stache or specialized levo full sus.

Thanks for suggestions and help.

Go to the Singletrack forum. Not saying people here don't know but they will be a tiny part of the membership. Over there you will be talking to thousands .

Trek Stache is a great ride. Whyte bikes well worth considering.

Seriously You have a budget of 4K but no idea what you want ? By the the time your spending that sort of money you should know what you want and be visiting the dealers, to narrow down the fit. If you live in a mountain biking area!find the local specialists shops and get it built around you.
