Hi
I'm looking to get into cycling more. I have a basic mountain bike trax had for years not really used much, would be good to have a better one.
Can anyone give any advice on getting into it more or any good routes. I like nice scenic places/greenery/parks. Also smooth surfaces and going fast
Thanks
Dan

Just ride your bike, as Eddy Merckx said
-1 for going fast
-1 for going fast

Cycling-of course, but it is far better on a Gillott

You could try and find a local club to ride with, or look for rides run by groups like Cycle UK or even British Cycling.
If you want to ride faster, but still want to ride off road, you might want to consider a Gravel Bike. Although I've not tried one yet, from reviews it seems that you really do get the benefit of a hardtail mountain bike combined with the higher speeds of a road bike on tarmac. So if you are wanting to buy a new bike (brand new, good luck with that for a bit as they are as rare as hens teeth!) it may be worth considering one of these.

Buy a couple of local Ordnance Survey maps, mark all the bridleways (long red dashes, NOT dots) with highlighter pen. The routes then start to jump out of the page. GO and explore!
