just got a "Raleigh LAA9000 RSP Asteri Pro LED Headlight" it looks OK to me (although I have yet to use it off road), I reasoned that for a few quid more than the Deal extreme type lights I could get something with what I hoped might be a greater degree of quality controal being as they were badged as Raleigh with a 1 year warrenty. They look very similar to the cheap lights from sites like Deal Extreme, but they are distributed by RSP (Raleigh) RRP seems to be aroung £150 in my local Raleigh dealer, but they are available on Ebay for around £87 delivered in a couple of days from a UK supplier in the Raleigh (RSP) packageing

I'm not sure if they are realy better than the deal extreme offers or the Magicshine lights, which are available in the UK from

Some might find this Troutie kit entertaining . . . . . 1800 lumen double for under £100.

I only just resisted myself ( having already commited to converting a Lumicycle halogen to LED ).

Have bought a 1280 lumen Bikeray Ray III light recently and have to say I am very impressed. Output is excellent, beam pattern is good and the battery lasts more than four hours

I use one of these. An utter bargain at that price.
It's massively bright (at a claimed 900 lumen) and it is solid. I'm well chuffed. I can ride decent singletrack with this on. (still prefer daylight though!)
Personally I just can't justify spending £300-£400 on a light. Neither can I believe some of the 'creative' Chinese marketing.
I have noticed a lot of traders with dirt cheap '1800 lumen' Cree XM-L lights. I went on the Cree website and they say that LED at 100% efficiency is 1015 lumen!
It's a fine line between bargain and dodgy tat...

Check out the Fluxient range on ebay (new). For £80/90 up to about £130 you get a decent light.

I have the 3,000 lumens one and it's epic - and cost £135 but think you can now get them a little less.

I usually ride Wednesday evening from 6.30 - 9pm and it last's fine on full power for much of that ride - dimmed when stopping for breath or the few road sections.

Hi,
You will find that a "T6" as opposed to "Q5 etc"Led source, Is far more effecient at battery usage, it is the later generation?
In practice at approximately for the same britness I have found that the Q5 uses 0.5 amp and the T6 uses 0.21 amp!
The Q5 also gets hot, althought the lamps are not the same reflector body.
Dont go for less than 600 lm ( I know this is a contraversal value of light) I.M.O.

Use batts 18560 or better not AA's, voltage is not high enough on load for AA's?
