Hmm, not so sure about that :?
IMHO any 'sport' with 'equipment' is getting away from the original Olympic ideal; but it's better than war

apart from when they were just running races and wrestling, the classical Greek games always had events with equipment: javelin, discus, weights (in the long jump), etc!

I'm not really against equipment as long as it's still the athlete's ability that decides it (i.e. no F1 in the olympics)

I must admit, I love all this type of thing. That tail whip on the downhill run sums up the attitude, fair play to 'em. (To the lady who blew the Olympic gold medal doing a trick she didn't need to in the snow boarding the other Olympics, a piece of my heart will always be yours ).

I was crossing the river Thames the other day via the Grenwich foot tunnel. The lifts at both ends are out again, so you have to carry your bike down 8 or 9 Victorian flights of spiral staircase, about 3 feet wide, with small landings in between. On each landing, there was a cyclists dismount sign :?
Couldn't help thinking the budding Dannys must have been getting in some practice :D

My heart was racing watching that. I wonder what tyres he uses?

p.s. What do the lift attendants do in the Greenwich foot tunnel?
