Isle of Wight Randonnee

Postby pedalsheep » 4 May 2018, 6:25pm

Is anyone coming over for the Randonnee this year?

The weather is looking wonderful and we've a new checkpoint at Ventnor Rugby Club (instead of Whitwell) with lots of tea and cake :D

Yes, planning to catch the 08:00 Portsmouth Ferry. Will be using my RANS long wheelbase recumbent so will be easy to spot.

The new stop sounds good :D

Love to but weather always seems a little unreliable in May, last time I planned to ride weather was appalling !

Agreed, always a good event, the weather yesterday made for an excellent ride.
Controls and organisations great.
08:00 ferry from Portsmouth was packed, 500+ cyclist I reckon
Had to feel for the ferry company when they a had ramp breakdown 4pm at Fishbourne just as several hundred cyclists wanted to return home. We were initially sent on to Ryde to get the fastcat but its lim ited bike capacity meant the queue was enormouse, so back to Fishbourne and eventually got on the 18:20. All good in the end.
Thanks to Wayfarers CTC for all their hard work.

Yes an excellent day. A big thank you to the organisers and volunteers. I enjoyed all the homemade cakes. :D
