Has anyone had difficulty in getting their bike on the Inverness to Thurso train?

Not such a problem Inverness to Thurso, but you are supposed to book. Usually you will get on without a booking unless you are travelling in summer.
More likely to be a problem Thurso-Inverness, as most end to enders do LE to JoG, booking essential there. When you book you might find your bike goes to Inverness in a road vehicle, and you meet up with it again in Inverness. There is no charge for bike carriage. There are a lot more trains on the southern section of this route now, so if the train is fully booked Invernes Thurso, you could probably take the train part way, say to Lairg or Tain. Also there is Tim Dearmans bike bus to consider, takes you to Durness.
