Another ill informed idiot starts a petition

Another ill informed idiot starts a petition.

I really like the opening paragraph. "The public roads used by motor vehicles are becoming unsafe to use due to one particular community that feel they are eligible to cycle on public UK roads."

It's interesting that they feel the roads are becoming dangerous because of cyclists whom they think aren't eligible to use roads.

What's more worrying to me than the ill informed idiot who started the petition is the ill informed 26k+ who have signed it!

Is it possible to get the Police to take action against the originator of the petition on the grounds of 'hatred aimed at a minority group' ?
I am being serious BTW

I read quite a few comments that were attached to the petition and almost all of them were saying they had signed it because it was so stupid they wanted it to get a hearing in parliament, where it would be recognised for the rubbish it is.
It had put on more signatures in the past twenty hours than the past 20 days, I suspect there is some sort of internet campaign happening about this petition and it is a pro-cycling group doing it.

Yes, the Twitter world got hold of it. Brought to my attention yesterday morning. Whilst they were signing to be able to leave a comment I do wonder how wise it is?
A lot of those early signers will never read the comments but will take heart, encouragement, and broadcast they've over 26k agreeing with themselves.

I was harassed some years ago by a chap who TOLD me I was being dangerous by cycling on the roads.
I argued that it wasn't me who was dangerous, but the motor vehicle drivers. I also argued that if someone is controlling a ton of metal in public, they have to use due care to the vulnerable folk out there.

He wouldn't accept it.

I gave up.

Mick F - depressing :-(
Just had a similar discussion wth a customer, 'cycling is too dangerous, I had to swerve the other day when I overtook a cyclist'!!!
How the hell do you respond to that sort of comment?

By saying,
"What! you mean you weren't looking where you were going. That could be classed as dangerous driving if you'd collided with that cyclist"
The problem is one of standards and expectancy, driving standards are very low and expectancy to have a clear road in front without the need to actually think about what they're doing is high.
That's why we have idiots starting petitions such as the one above.
