Charge Spoon replacement

Post by nomm »

Having decided my 4 year old 'charge spoon' saddle needs replacing and not quite yet in the market for a brooks (c17 cambium), does anyone know which fabric saddle replaces it like for like?

I am considering the Line or the Scoop

The line comes in 2 widths

the scoop comes in 3 profiles

What's wrong with a new Spoon?

You can still buy a brand new Spoon, but the replacement seems to be the Scoop.

I have a Scoop on my single speed set up, it's a fine saddle and no issues.

On a completely superficial level, my current one is bright red (as is my bar tape, Ortlieb bags and cables) and can't find a bright red spoon, new, anywhere.

Have you tried the saddle builder on Charge's site itself ?

Works out a bit dearer, but you can custom the saddle, bumpers, rails and materials to your own requirements

Scrub that - just been over there and it's been removed

Shame that. It was a really useful thing to have

Just had a look around and appreciate your problem.

Madison flux are allegedly basically the same. I have 2 of these and like them but can't definitely say that they are actually the same.

Got a Flux and 3 Spoons. Same thing but some versions of the Spoon have different "leather" finishes.
Several other saddles are the same.

Planet X have various red saddles available http://www.planetx.co.uk/c/q/components ... it/saddles

I bought this Selle Italia recently for it's red rails to match the other red on my new build. It was only £8 at the time, £13 now http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/SASIXRXCF/ ... low-saddle It's firmer than a Spoon, but I must say I don't find the Spoon at all comfortable. I haven't put in any good miles on it yet to judge it's comfort, as having teething trouble with the bike.

SDG Dusters are available in red - not tried one myself but I am told they are comparable with the Spoon

If you really want comfort though - you could try the Selle SMP range (also available in red)

I had a TRK model (when I had problems with Sciatica) and it was really really comfy, and helped a lot.
