Bargain bicycle pump ?

Post by on6702 »

Just noticed that in addition to its new bicycle, IKEA is now selling a range of cycling accessories like u locks, helmets, reflectives and a pump. The pump in particular looks very similar to the Topeak morph design but for the grand sum of £8. I'm not sure if it's head can be taken to pieces and switched between schrader and presta valve configurations but this could easily be addressed by the use of an adapter.

Seems a relatively small shaft, and large barrell. Not sure will be easy to pump up to 90psi, although it may be good for higher volume tyres
It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best,
since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.
Thus you remember them as they actually are...

yes the mountain morph. Now that is pretty good can get to high pressures as it is a portable track pump - you push against the ground - does this one?

yes it does. some one should go have a look? as the mt morph costs £20?

am surprised they can get away with such a direct copy?

Got to get me a new one and that one looks great

Anything is better than the crank bros one I have. I'm convinced "crank" is a typo

I think they may license the design, cheapen a few elements and probably then sell with minimal/no margin. They have a similar thing with an SDS hammer drill which is a Bosch design.

I have examined a crank bros pump of this sort

and it is the most useless thing imaginable. I don't very often say this, but that pump design is beyond redemption.

:D yeah I agree with you

cheers

Actually, mine is somewhat more refined than that, as it has the built-in Walter Mitty pressure gauge.

Specialized MTB mini pump, 12" long, clips in securely to its clamp which attaches to water bottle bolts (& does not imped bottles/cages).
Gets you decently high pressures in 'narrow' tyres with a bit of effort.
I also have a traditional old style mini pump that would do just as well with an adapter I would think.
