Double headed spanner 8-10 mm for touring
Dear All,
I'm looking for a lightweight double headed spanner 8-10 mm for my touring tools. Topeak do one as part of their Survival Gear Box but it does not seem to be available individually.
Would someone else know any other source?

What do you want it for?
I have this one and carry it because the 8mm fits mudguards.
8mm 10mm 7mm 12mm.
Dunno where it came from, probably a flat-furniture tool.
If you're really stuck, you can have it for the price of a stamp.

You've got a nice freebie now, but I use a 8 + 10 from a set.
if you look around you can usually get a cheapo set for not too much. Top quality foreign made, I wouldn't trust putting too much pressure on the bigger ones, but the little ones are OK. I s'pose its still a relatively expensive way to get just a tiddler.

sounds like you need the contents of an old MAFAC tool kit, now sadly the province of loony collectors....
However this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-MOTORS-OPEN-END-SPANNER-8MM-10MM-EXCELLENT-USED-CONDITION-/182606502196
could be yours for 99p + p&p if you are quick.
Why Nissan? Because these spanners are good quality CrMo but usually only about 3mm thickness, so not too heavy.
cheers

Re: Double headed spanner 8-10 mm for touring
I found a place that would sell spanners type DIN895 with a vast array of sizes combined.
Made a set with 8/9, 10/13, 14/15, 16(grounded)/17. This covers pretty much all the needs for the ones who stubbornly refuse to fit allen-key nuts or bolts
The 8mm can be bought in 8/10 if needed. I'm making two tool rolls to sell altogether with this set of spanners that I've never used (my travel toolbox has a different setup)

It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best,
since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.
Thus you remember them as they actually are...

Try a car boot sale. Motorcycle tool kits come in nasty plastic wallets. Anything Jap has one with a 8 and 10mm open ended combination spanner. I've chucked many away.

Here's the lightweight but expensive option

They also do a 13/10/8 version

That does have appeal to me (except for the price and p&p) - I took my folder out today and added a 15mm socket with sliding T-bar to my tool roll.

Dear all,
Thanks to all of your replies - I might go for Mick F's simple tool as that's all I need for my touring tool roll.
followed by the Park Tool spanner.

Hang on! I've got a Mafac toolkit, complete with miniature box spanner, which I bought new to go with my new Dawes Atlantis circa 1980, and I'm not a loony collector ( at least, not of Mafac toolkits ).
It's very durable, apart from the elastic closure, and a nice reminder of when it was all nuts and bolts and scarcely a hex to be seen.

A nice tool, but surely having the 8 inside the 10 like that would limit its use where there is an obstruction in the space occupied by the 10?

you may not be, but the people that buy them on e-bay these days must be; it is the only explanation for the prices....
cheers
