It's not a 'click bait website', some pretty good deals come up from time to time, but also the same stuff can sometimes be found elsewhere at similar prices.
The OP is referring to this Veho battery and the price is £19.99 http://www.veho-world.com/main/shop_det ... rticle=294
Nothing particularly special about a 8500mAh powerbank at that price though.

I think any power no that supports passthrough charging will do the job?

Tinnishill I'm not sure you quite understand what click bait means...

Rualexander I hadn't realised prices for these had dropped quite so much. I was expecting to pay 80 + quid based on old knowledge about powermonkeys but from your Amazon link there's now decent capacity ones for £20. Now just trying to work out the decent ones from dodgy expoding imports! ;)

I guess I meant power bank rather than cache battery as well!

Looking forward to replies to honesty's question as I am thinking of getting one of these things myself as a halfway step to maybe going to a dynamo system later.

Yep, I misused the term. I was trying to alert you to a problem with the link you posted without having to type out, "I can't see the item you are interested in without providing my contact details to a completely unknown website owner who might be engaged in a data mining operation with criminal intent. It is not normal for an equipment vendor's website to demand personal details before displaying the goods."

Here is a screenshot of what I get when I click on your link.

Its a well known (or at least I thought so) flash sale site specialising in sporting equipment. All flash sale sites I am aware of require you to be a "member" as I think it's part of their tax dodge. You seem to be being needlessly confrontational...

Don't like the website? Move ahead.
I have an email only for "commercial" websites, all the spam goes there. A firewall and Opera Browser coplete the security. Job done

As far as the powerbank, you can get the Anker ones from many places, they are reliable and better quality than the rest.

Ok, will try again. You asked for advice about a battery. I tried to tell you that we can't see the item without giving away personal information to who knows whom at a website I for one had never heard of, and you were aggressively sarcastic. If you provide a secure public link to the item it would be easy to offer considered advice.

The subject of battery packs is of interest to a lot of people in cycle touring and I would like to know more about it.

the advantage of a battery pack (Power Bank) is that you can recharge it while riding during the day, so you can recharge your Garmin and other devices at night while sleeping. This is a practice that has many advantages, for example you have a lot of flexibility to choose to use your dynamo lights or not, and in those "dead times" for the light (when there's no need for) you can add more juice to store in the PowerBank. This allows you to store your electronics in a warm environment (in the sleeping bag with you!) so the drop in temperature outside won't kill them. Not all the electronics would suffer from temperature drop, some will loose just a little of charge, some may loose 30% overnight. It is a very good idea then to 1- protect the electronics from loss of charge, and 2- having them charged in the morning and ready to use

As well as Anker, Tecknet is a long established manufacturer. Because these type of Lithium batteries are potential fire hazards I would stick to well established makes. I have had two Tecknet batteries for several years which are still going strong. Some of the cheapo no name batteries make extravagant claims about capacity which should be regarded with suspicion.

For the 20 quid I was going to spend on the pebble on sport pursuit (8400mAh) I got a 13000mAh Anker one off Amazon. I reckon that'll keep my sat nav charged for the week.
