Our wonderful Fixed Term Parliament Act makes that almost impossible unless a substantial proportion of Conservative MPs get swept up in the current Corbynmania of the politically callow and ignorant, something I consider unlikely.

Perhaps he should emigrate to Venezuela.

That socialist paradise is having a few problems at the moment - riots, starvation, rampant poverty.

A firebrand like Jeremy could be just what they need to put them back on track - vast increases in public spending should do the trick.

But never say never.

All those Glastonbury socialists and revolutionaries might take to the streets and stage a coup and install their beloved Jeremy as their leader - once they've got back from the Henley Regatta, Wimbledon, Glyndebourne and the other events on their social calendar.

Apparently they ar enot planning to give MPs a longer summer breaks as MPs tend not to plot against the PM when they are on holidays, so MPs get longer hols, do less work all to keep May in power a bit longer.

And I understood they had far more legislation to deal with than they had time to do (with leaving the EU), but May clinging to power is more important than anything else.

And the "bill" is in. We (taxpayers) are having to pay and extra £537 per Northern Irish resident just to keep May in power a bit longer. Nothing for Norfolk, nothing for Scotland (because May doe snot need them to help her cling to power).

It works out as cost to buy an MP's vote £100m per MP and the party who will buy those votes=Conservatives (but using tax payers money). and all so May can stay in charge a bit longer.

No wonder polls now put Corbyn significantly ahead of May (5 points ahead!)

I wouldn't bet on it, personally. I reckon we've a few more Conservative leaders to work through before the Fixed Term Parliament Act* is set aside somehow (Can the Queen do it? The Lords?) and we have another election. Six months looks like being their average term in office...

*Introduced to allow Cameron to hold on to power if his deal with the Lib Dems fell through.

it'd be nice, but i doubt it's going to happen. i've not had a chance to read or watch the news properly yet (well i probably have) but it looks like may's found that magic money tree.

blackbike, you'll like this tweet i saw about his glasto performance

"not surprised corbyns a hit at glastonbury, if you love living in a tent surrounded by £$%£$^ you'll love socialism"

i dont, i'm deeply offended by it, but i'm sharing it for democracy

I've just had a look at the odds, you wouldn't get rich betting against it.
2/1 for a 2018 election, raising to 12/1 for this government lasting out till 2020
Even money on which party wins the next election
3/1 on Corbyn being the next PM - which is the same odds as David Davis who's favorite for the next tory leader.

I'm going to have to start sitting on the floor when I listen to the radio, I keep falling off my chair.
Yesterday we had Milliband saying he'd got it wrong about Corbyn and should have been more radical, doing a bit of history re writing in the process trying to credit himself for ending the New labour era.
Lunchtime today, I think I heard John Major saying what a bad idea getting into bed with the DUP is. I was half asleep so I may have dreamt it... (I'm not sure anyone's going to take advice on who to get into bed with from him)

Can't help but be reminded of the old adage: "Cast ne'er a clout, till May be out..." But that's a different sort of May (and it ain't the month either...). Nor am I keeping my 'clouts' on in the expectation. Global warming!
