Did you name yourself after the Deltic locomotive? Engine names are so interesting, for example the 50 *Westerns*

Good to see this post resurrected
I wonder what's the longest time gap between two postings?

And staying off topic, I waited over seven years for a Deltec amplifier to be produced.
Not sure if it ever did come about?

fausto.

Your user name does not need so much explanation, or does it? %) I took mine from a YH in Wales, where else?

Why do some people apparently use their real names?
Why do some apparently not use their real names?

Are there really 531 Colins on here?

I use my real name and frankly wonder if the level of debate in some instances would be better if we all had to.

To access the prime parts of the Daily Telegraph you have to pay and you are logged in as your real name - which they know from your payment details. Oddly though l don't think l've ever commented there - just because the sheer volume of traffic means you won't really get a decent response/conversation - it really is more a one-shot comment.

BTW I subscribed to the DT because it does a very good value online only deal - I'd have subscribed to the The Times but at the time it only offered online and print deals which were a lot more pricey!

I would be willing to use my real name

Even without real names, one gets to know a small group of regulars quite well

The Grauniad often has thousands of comments on a single article, these fora are much better cos one can read all the comments
Certain comments here are a bit too long, mind :? especially when they are quoted in full

I would be perfectly content to use my real name, but there are so many David Millers in the English-speaking world that it's not much use as an identifier. I have been pestered by collection agencies over the debts incurred by David Miller in my home city. There was more than a little confusion and hilarity when David Miller and I worked for opposing candidates in a provincial election. David Miller the American opera singer had to get my permission to appear under our name when he joined Actor's Equity, even though I had not been active on stage for nearly two decades when he began to perform. Oh yes, and David Miller the professional has done wonders for my reputation as an amateur photographer.

Thus I have chosen Mistik-ka (the name of the smallholding where I've lived for most of my adult life — Cree for "the place of many small trees") as a consistent identifier wherever I may venture in the wide world of the internet.
