im not looking for a Vittoria Hyper, READ THE ACTUAL FIRST SENTENCE

Post by The utility cyclist »

So, looking for a set of tyres to try out for some light off road/ 'gravel' duties, come to the conclusion that I want a Schwalbe Marathon Almotion 700x38. 622-40c.
However finding the variant that isn't tubeless is proving to be difficult, the tubeless is designated TLE Tubeless Easy.
Schwalbe in their ultimate wisdom decided to remove it from the range sometime in 2016 and only produce the tubeless version

Why manufacturers mess about and end up with worse tyres I'll never know, it isn't the first time Schwalbe have done this!

These ? Mad price tho', these were the only ones on ebay in that size not described as TLE,you'd need to check with the seller whether

these are what you're looking for.

That sort of thing is quite common. It means the seller is out of stock, but doesn't want to delete the listing, maybe in case he can get some more.
If anyone's daft enough to order at that price, he'll just buy from another seller, such as the link you did give, forward the tyre to the buyer, and pocket the difference in price.

The same code applies to the tubeless version also unfortunately.

It does say Hyper in big letters on the topic title.
You can't expect everyone to actually read your actual post.

Thanks, I'm not wanting to pay £48 though. it's rather annoying as the TLE version can be had for £26 and the 50mm version is only a few quid more, the frame won't take a 50mm otherwise I'd probably take the hit on the extra weight.

Er, you can actually and the title does not say I'm looking for a Vitt hyper, it says the tyre I'm looking for is better than the hyper! it's not rocket science and is very basic English language.
thanks for chipping in though

So what happens when the perfect tyre you've tracked down and fallen in love with wears out? You already know it's discontinued, aren't you setting yourself up for disappointment, won't you forever be in mourning? Isn't it sometimes better to have one that got away and dream?
This isn't a criticism, or very helpful in your search - I've spent plenty of time, effort and money searching out the perfect part. Some have been worth it, others not, none of them have been magic and in every case there have been easier alternatives that would have done just as well.

Granted I may have missed something but what is the objection to the tubeless version?

And can it not be used with a tube in?

My point. If a tyre fits the spec except it is labelled tubeless why not use a tube? Like I said, I guess I missed something > Do that a lot according to my wife!
