Fine Idiot Drivers

Post by Ban Idiot Bikers »

Due to the significant number of accidents caused by motor vehicles passing bicycles too closely, cyclists passing stationary or slow moving vehicles too closely, cyclists on roadways when there is a cycle path adjacent or riding on roadways with a speed limit more then 300% of the average bicycle speed, new laws need to be created and enforced.

On the one hand seems anti-bike, but also wants to fine drivers with passes less than 1m, with half revenue going to the reportee of a close pass (i.e. the bike rider) - I'd be rich in only a few rides.

... and what % of a cycle path is paid for by " motorist tax paid for bike path" when some of it is paid for by VAT/tabacco & alcohol duty etc etc.
I don't think he though the details through at all. (Well officer, I didn't use this bit of cycle track as it is an alcohol duty paid for section of cycle track. I was going to join the cycle track at the next roundabout, as that is where the motorist tax paid for section starts...).

Anyway, I ride on the bit of the road paid for by the VAT on my shopping, so there.

Clearly a thread with a misleading title from a dishonest source.

1. All bicycles ridden on public roads or public bike paths must be registered, taxed and display rear number plates.

Don't be daft.

Send them to the Isle of Wight instead, or better still force them to read back copies of the Daily Mail; the ultimate deterrent.

3. Bicycles will be banned from roadways where... b. the roadway speed limit is more than 200% of the average commuter cyclist speed of 15.5 mph.
Fine. That'll put paid to 90% of our rides, on country lanes with 60mph limit....

And that should be by restricting cyclists to save the lives taken by careless, impatient and law-breaking motorists?

Mind you, if bicycles were "banned from roadways where there is an adjacent, motorist tax paid for bike path" then I think we're safe as there is no such thing as a specifically "motorist tax paid for bike path"

There is a link beneath the petition on which you can 'report' inappropriate content to change.org. I have just done so.
