The UK government wants freedom to negotiate trade deals.
These deals will be worse than what we have in the EU as the EU has more clout than the UK.
The government cannot agree what we will propose to the EU in order to get worse trade terms with the rest of the world, and ministers may resign as a result.
The EU has already rejected both options under consideration anyway, so what the government proposes is largely irrelevant, as the EU holds all the cards in the negotiation.
