Cameras?

Post by bladerunner2049 »

I am looking for a camera for my bike. Ideally I would like two, one ffront facing and the other rear. tHe video quality will have to be good engough to record car number plates. What would people recommend?

Most HD action cameras from reputable shops will do for front-facing as long as it's on a good mount. A lot of camera mounts are too long IMO and make it worse. I use https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rearview-Mir ... 2817818813

I used an MD80 for ages, but it only really got number plates clearly in good lighting conditions.

I don't currently use a rear-facing one but people seem happy with the Aldi one since the firmware update.

The deluxe options are probably GoPro and the cycliq Fly, but trashing the camera is an ever-present risk (falling off, forgetting it when parking/loading the bike, and so on). Don't spend more than you're OK with losing :-(

I have the Cycliq Fly 6 rear facing and Fly 12 front facing camera. They are expensive but both have about a 6 hour run time, whereas many cheaper cameras will only run for 60-90 minutes. You can get the old models at reduced prices.

Fly 6 and 12 front and rear, double as lights for shorter journeys and less obvious that they are a camera, USB charging so can be re-charged at work if necessary.

Run time is the number one criteria IMO. a camera's not much use with a flat battery.

+1

For my rides between 4 and 7 hours, only the Fly are ok.
Still don’t have some. I suppose I will wait until the front is smaller.
